The Board is charged with conducting the business of the community, and to ensure that the community abides by our letter of agreement with the Upper Room in regards to the guidelines for conducting walks. The HOF Board is a working board on which members serve 3 year terms, provide guidance for the various committees, and work together to strengthen the HOF community.

The typical path to leadership is through what The Upper Room refers to as “progressive servanthood”. This means that Weekend Lay Directors, Assistant Lay Directors, the Community Lay Director and the Board members have successfully served in various roles on a number of teams prior to being invited into leadership roles. They have demonstrated core values of humility, a desire to serve, a willingness to testify before others, the ability to lead small groups effectively; to die to self when asked to do that which needs to be done to support the pilgrims, the laity and the team; an ability to have fun, and to be totally behind the scenes. A servant leaders’ goal is to support the pilgrims as they experience the once-in-a-lifetime 72 hour experience of connecting with Christ during the weekend. Board members are also picked in regard to special gifts and talents with which they have been blessed and are willing to share with the HOF Community.

"Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;"
